Campaigns and Equality Week
Between 12 - 16 March 2018 we held our first ever Campaigns and Equality Week. This was organised by Ms Nethersell, Mrs Matthews, Mrs Webb and a team of Year 9 and 11 students.
Each year group had a different theme to focus on in form times and also a talk from an outside speaker. Year 7 had a talk from ex-student Eleanor Dickens about gender whilst Year 8 focused on religious diversity. The Year 9 talk on LGBT and the Year 10 session on mental health were delivered by the Access Community Trust, which is based in Lowestoft. The week ended with Year 11 having a talk about human rights from Amnesty International member Simon John.
On Wednesday 14 March 2018 an 'Equali-tea' was held in the hall; students and staff came together to discuss why equality is important and what we can do to make the world a better place.
The Campaigns and Equality Society meets every Thursday at 12.40pm in H5.
New members are always welcome.
