Welcome to the Community Section of Hobart High School. In this section you will find all the information about our partnerships with the local community.


Community Facilities at Hobart High School

All the facilities of the school are available for use by the local community.  A variety of clubs, groups, local organisations and individuals already make use of the extensive sports and general facilities at the school throughout the year.

The school is committed to further developing community activities on the school site and aims to provide good quality, professionally managed facilities.  A member of school staff is always on site during community activities and would be happy to show prospective customers around the facilities.


Bookings can be made by individuals or clubs and societies on a one off or regular basis. Facilities and activities available include:

Sports Hall

The sports hall has 4 badminton/short tennis courts, 1 full size basketball court, volleyball, netball, cricket nets, table tennis and there is also the capacity to play 5-a-side football.  Modern changing, shower and toilet facilities also available.

Full Size Artificial Turf Pitch

The full size artificial turf pitch includes floodlighting.  It is suitable for football, hockey and tennis.  The pitch can be divided into thirds for playing 5 a side football, ideal for a social game between friends and local club training.  The pitch is also marked out with full size hockey and football pitches.  In the summer the surface can be used for tennis.

Multi-Purpose Hall

The main school hall is suitable for a variety of uses, including theatre and music events, meetings, exhibitions, and some sports and leisure activities.  It can seat 200 people and has a stage.  The school dining area is adjoining and can be used to provide additional accommodation and refreshments/catering.

Community and Meeting Rooms

A suite of community rooms are available in a self-contained block providing excellent meeting and small conference facilities. These are excellent quality facilities with ICT and data projection provision. The space is flexible and can be split to provide three meeting rooms for groups up to 25 people or can be opened up as a single space capable of accommodating 70 people.

Swimming Pool

The swimming pool was fully refurbished during 2011, and is available for hire to local organisations and groups but these groups must provide their own qualified lifeguards.  The pool is used 13 hours per week by White Dolphin Swimming Club who provide a comprehensive programme of swimming lessons for children up to the age of 16 years.

Junior Sports Coaching

Regular sessions for children are organised by the school in badminton, trampoline.  Sessions are an hour in duration, are led by qualified and experienced


Activities Run by Clubs and Organisations

White Dolphin Swimming Club

The club provides swimming and water safety lessons to young people 3 – 16 years of age.  Sessions are run on every weekday evening and Saturday mornings during school term times.  The club offers good quality qualified teaching for all abilities. Zumba

A class is run on Wednesday evenings from 7.15pm – 8.15pm in the Sports Hall. For more information contact the instructor, Caroline Yardy on 07879 471609.

Slimming World

A group is held on Wednesdays at 7.30pm – 9.00pm in the Dining Room.  All members will be welcomed whether they are current, past or new.  For more information contact Abby on 07795 327212.

Hobart Badminton Club

A friendly local club playing on a Friday night from 7.30pm – 9.30pm.  All standards welcome but some playing experience is required. Contact Barbara Boardman on 01508 528255/tomenelli@btinternet.com for more information.
