Ethos and values
Excellence in a caring community describes Hobart High School perfectly.
Support, collaboration and challenge are all key to our success. Raising and maintaining the highest standards for teaching and learning is at the core of all we do; providing students and staff with the opportunity to thrive, flourish and excel.
Our aim is to enhance educational opportunities for young people to the benefit of their community. We do this through: raising aspirations, improving teaching and learning standards, providing the best possible environment for learning and exposing our students to rich cultural experiences.
British Values
We are committed to the active promotion of the four fundamental British values through the Personal Development Curriculum and subject curricula as part of Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural education:
-
Democracy
-
The rule of law
-
Individual liberty
-
Mutual respect and tolerance.
In actively promoting British Values, we will also focus on, and are able to show how our work with pupils is effective in, embedding fundamental British values.
Actively promoting also means challenging pupils, staff or parents expressing opinions contrary to fundamental British Values, including ‘extremist’ views. We provide a culturally diverse curriculum and adopt non-discriminatory procedures and anti-racist practice.
